Requirements

1. At least 2 or 3-years’ experience in delivering training to community level

2. At least 1 year working experience in support to small farmers/ agricultural value chains

3. At least diploma in Agriculture/Agronomy or any related courses

4. Proficiency in English (especially speaking and writing)

5. Competence in Microsoft package

6. Capable of driving/riding a motorcycle over long distances and in possession of a valid driving license

7. Experience or knowledge/understanding of social microfinance preferred

Responsibilities

Part (A) - Conduct individual monitoring

Visit farmers’ activities to:

1. Advise them on their production. His/her analysis should help farmers to better use his/her production factors and to determine the best choices of crops/livestock, production/raising methods, investment, diversification, etc.

2. Make recommendations on storage methods and sales.

3. Support start-ups of agricultural activities by giving in-depth advice to ensure a good start to the activity

4. Support their efforts in the marketing of the agri-products.

 

Part (B) - Develop and facilitate agricultural group training on agriculture for SOO’s staff and partners

Participate in the training of SOO’s staff on agricultural topics:

1. Support facilitators to deliver training modules on agricultural topics: The Agri-Worker trains the facilitators upstream on the agricultural modules and, when available, assists them afterwards on the field to help them answer technical questions

2. Organize farmers-field-schools outside group meeting times (farmers-field-school: training organized on a field of one of the partners to perform demonstrations, for instance on crop sowing)

3. Participate in the design of the annual training plan and propose new modules to be integrated following the analysis of partners’ needs

4. Update and adapt training modules integrated in the annual training plan on a timely manner.

 

Part (C) - Improve farmers’ loan requests analysis among the team

1. Participate in the development of fact sheets on agricultural activities to assist facilitators in analyzing farmers' activities and loan requests.

2. Participate in credit committees to provide a technical perspective on the feasibility of an agricultural activity or the relevance of the purpose of the credit.

3. Assist the operational team in strengthening or improving the process and tools to ensure better analysis of farmers' loan requests.

 

Part (D) - Participate in SOO's development strategy.

1. Identify farmers’ needs through individual interview or focus group, and analyze and report the data collected

2. Support for building relationships with agriculture-based organizations for potential partnerships

3. Actively participate in management meetings to propose measures to improve existing offers, especially those dedicated to farmers.

4. Contribute to projects related to the development of socio-economic services.
